Difference between Relaxing & Recharging
I've been on vacation for the past seven days and I've learned a few things. One of the main things I've learned is that there is a difference (for me at least) between "relaxing" & "recharging".
Relaxing in my opinion is how I let loose or become less tense.
Recharging in my opinion is how I become energized.
All truth be told, I went on vacation with a couple of objectives. The objectives were simple, I needed to 1) relax & 2) recharge. The first few days of our vacation were fun and active but I found myself tired at the end which meant I didn't really recharge that day. The next few days I found to be a bit more tense between managing my own expectations and the five other expectations around me. That was a bit more stressful and less relaxing.
Vacationing with four children is amazingly fun and stressful at the same time. That being said I knew that with my personality style being more type "A" the only way I was going to achieve my objectives was if I could force myself to sit down and think through the differences between how I relax & recharge.
Keep in mind I believe there are many different goals and objectives people have in mind when they vacation. Many times people go on vacation with the intent to relax but have a detailed itinerary. Or maybe they're thinking they want to recharge but aren't in a vacation spot that promotes quiet and peaceful rest.
In order to achieve my objectives of 1) relaxing and 2) recharging I've come up with 10 things for each category that I think will help. I will be posting them over the next couple of days. Stay tuned and let me know what you think.
